The Minister of Health of the Chechen Republic, Idris Baisultanov, held a weekly online meeting with the heads of medical organizations of the Chechen Republic.
The main topic of the talks was the issue of organizing vaccinations against the new coronavirus infection in the Chechen Republic. The chief epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health of the Chechen Republic, Asiyat Murtazaliyeva, reported on the progress of vaccination and revaccination in the Chechen Republic and on the problematic issues of the vaccination campaign. She talked about vaccinating adolescents against COVID-19, revaccinating the population, including medical workers, and achieving planned herd immunity rates.
Chief doctors of several high-risk medical institutions also shared their experience in organizing vaccinations for the joined population and achieving the planned goals in their territories.
“According to the latest data, around 722,000 people have been vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine, around 120,000 adults have been revaccinated with the first component of the vaccine, and around 180 people have been vaccinated among children. Despite the significant success of the vaccination campaign in the region, concerns remain with regard to achieving sustainable herd immunity. Given the expected increase in incidence in May-June, it is necessary to prepare for such a scenario and provide the population with immunoprophylactic protection, said Idris Baysultanov.
The minister instructed his deputies and heads of medical organizations to ensure that medical workers are revaccinated as soon as possible and to actively inform the population about the need for vaccinations.
