The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree «On visa-type retaliatory measures in relation to hostile actions by foreign states». The document signed by the head of state was published on the website of the official website of legal information.
The decree was signed due to «the need to take urgent action in response to hostile actions by the European Union». According to the signed document, Russia suspended a number of clauses of the visa facilitation agreements with the European Union, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
These points apply to members of official delegations from EU countries, as well as journalists. Putin instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send appropriate notifications to the EU missions and embassies of these countries, and to impose personal restrictions on entry to Russia to foreigners and stateless persons who engage in hostile actions.
The government should prepare and submit to the State Duma a draft law on the suspension of international agreements referred to in the decree.
On March 7, the Russian government approved a list of foreign states and territories that engage in hostile actions against the Russian Federation, its natural and legal persons.
The list includes the USA and Canada, European Union countries, Great Britain and its island territories, Ukraine, Montenegro, Switzerland, Albania, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, North Macedonia.
The list also includes Asian countries: Japan, South Korea, Australia, Micronesia, New Zealand, Singapore and Taiwan.
