The maximum penalty for traveling by train from outside has been increased to 4,000 rubles. The relevant law was signed by the President, and the document was published on the official website of legal information.
The amount of the fine for violating the rules of conduct of citizens in rail transport has not changed since the adoption of the original version of the Code of Administrative Offenses, that is, for 20 years and amounted to 100 rubles.
Pursuant to the signed law, the fine for train journeys from outside, including on roofs and crossing platforms, is increased. Now its size is from two thousand to four thousand rubles.
As previously noted by the authors of the initiative, illegal travel outside of trains, referred to as «trainsurfing», «trainhoping», «hacking», has recently become widespread.
This mode of transport is a threat to the life and health of both the criminals themselves and other users of rail transport, say the lawmakers.
