Sales of construction and repair goods rose sharply in Russia in March. Vedomosti writes about it.
The Petrovich network informed the publication that in annual terms, only in Moscow, the volume of sales of this type of goods increased threefold, in St. Petersburg — twice. According to market participants, Russians massively buy goods for repair, fearing price increases and shortages. Experts added that the excessive demand was created by citizens who are currently doing repairs or construction. According to the Check Index platform, the average DIY check in March was 12.4 thousand. rubles, or 74 percent. more than a year earlier. In the online segment, this number was higher — 20.3 thousand. (plus 76% per annum).
The peak of increased demand for building materials was recorded after the start of the special operation in Ukraine, experts said. The current situation has led to at least double the price of such goods.
