Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law obliging election participants to disclose information about their expenses for the acquisition of digital financial assets (DFA) and digital currency.
The document is published on the official legal information portal. Amendments were made to the laws on the election of the President of the Russian Federation and deputies to the State Duma, the procedure for establishing the Federation Council, political parties, combating corruption, controlling the compliance of state officials’ expenses with their income, guarantees of basic electoral rights and the right to participate in a referendum of citizens of the Russian Federation in in connection with the adoption of the law «On digital financial assets, digital currency and amending certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation.
The law obliges voting candidates to provide information about their expenses, spouse’s (spouse’s) expenses and minor children for each CFA and digital currency purchase transaction for the last three years, if the amount of the transaction exceeds the total income of the candidate and his wife (spouse) for three years before the transaction was concluded. At the same time, information on the sources of obtaining funds for such a transaction should also be provided.
The act comes into force 10 days after its official publication.
