Cereal production in the Russian Federation in January-February 2022 increased by 19% compared to the same period in 2021, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Agriculture.
“In response to growing consumer demand, Russian companies are increasing the production of the main types of cereals. According to the results from the first two months, it was 271 thousand. tone. That’s over 19% more than last year, ”the report says.
At the same time, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, in February this figure increased by almost 16% compared to January (+ 18.4% compared to February last year). In particular, an increase was recorded in the following categories: corn grits — by 65.5%, semolina — by 40.8%, wheat grits — by 30.1%, buckwheat — by 24.7%, rice — by 23.6% %, pearl barley — by 12.8%.
The executive director of the agricultural consulting company «Rincon Management», Konstantin Korneev, noted that since the beginning of the year, the production of cereals has been growing at a very fast pace and has now reached a record level. According to him, this clearly shows that food and processing businesses are able to provide food to consumers even in peak demand conditions.
