Władysław Dawankow, Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, made a proposal to the State Duma to extend the May holiday weekend to 10 days. This was reported on the website of the New People party.
The MP believes that the rest from May 1 to May 10 will help the Russians to stock up on food for the fall. “People must survive. We are seeing the prices of all products rising now. This famous «borscht mix» has grown by 10-40 percent, says Davankov.
He also added that the Russians will be able to spend this time communicating with their loved ones.
Davankov believes that the extension of the May holidays is quite easy to implement. As an example, it cites public holidays declared by the state during the COVID-19 pandemic. The MP added that the party will ask the government for an additional day off to support business.
«It is important to keep people at work, but at the same time we want to support everyone by organizing such a long vacation,» concluded Davankov.
According to the production calendar for May 2022, the days from May 1 to May 3 and May 7 to 10 are public holidays.
Earlier, the deputy head of the FNPR, Alexander Shereshukov, suggested that the working week in Russia should be shortened. He is convinced that this will help keep jobs in the labor market.
