Russian pharmacies maintain a wide range of antibiotics, their production, supply and commercialization continue, Roszdravnadzor said.
Earlier, the newspaper «Vedomosti» reported that in Russia some antibiotics for children were missing, including cefuroxime.
«A wide range of antibiotics is available in pharmacies in Russia, their production, supply and introduction into civilian circulation continue,» the report reads.
According to the drug monitoring system, there are over 10.5 million packages of the drug with the international non-proprietary name amoxicillin, over 6.4 million packages of amoxicillin + clavulanic acid, over 2.4 million packages of cefuroxime, more than 2.4 million packages of cefexime and over 2 .1 million packages of clarithromycin, the press service reported. At the same time, the drugs are available in various dosage forms, the department noted.
«The lack of a drug with a certain trade name in the pharmacy organization may be due to increased demand and is not a sign of shortage,» the press service stressed.
