The lawsuit was based on infringement of consumer rights in connection with the termination of the Apple Pay payment service in Russia, said Konstantin Lukoyanov, senior partner at Chernyshov, Lukoyanov and Partners law firm.
“On April 29, our office, representing the interests of Russian users, brought a class action against Apple to the Presnensky District Court in Moscow. The lawsuit was based on infringement of consumer rights in connection with unjustified unilateral termination of the contract. Apple Pay payment service in Russia, the application is 90 million rubles, «he said.
The amount includes compensation for moral damage caused to citizens (3 million rubles in favor of each plaintiff), as well as a fine of 50% of the amount of compensation for moral damage awarded by the court. In addition, the defendants are seeking compensation for material damage and the resumption of Apple Pay.
The defendants in the lawsuit are Apple Inc., Apple Holding BV and Apple Rus LLC.
