Rostec is ready to transfer Russian airlines from a foreign booking system to a domestic one in the event of sanctions being imposed, the industry will not collapse, the state-owned corporation said.
«Today we have another round of aggressive action against civil aviation. It can be expected that further steps will have an impact on foreign booking systems used by carriers. Please note that in the event that foreign systems deny compliance at the same time, a backup version of the system will be used with emergency connection of companies to the service within 24 hours. We are technologically fully prepared for it. The industry will not collapse, «Rostec said.
Russian Transport Minister Vitaly Saviev on Wednesday said Russian airlines would not be left without a reservation system if foreign systems refused to work in Russia. According to him, foreign booking systems were previously used, mainly Saber and Amadeus, only because they had been on the market longer than the developed Russian ones.
According to Rostec, the system is currently used by over 50 airlines, incl. Red Wings, Aurora, Rusline, Yamal, Utair, Alrosa. Aeroflot is expected to join in the near future. The total number of passengers handled by the system exceeds 40 million per year, reports TASS.
