In Russia, they plan to create a registry of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, said Olga Tkacheva, chief specialist for geriatrics at the Russian Ministry of Health.
«We intend and organize a registry of patients with Alzheimer’s disease. I think that this topic is long overdue and indeed, starting from 2022, we are really approaching the creation of this registry» — said at the VI National Russian Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
Tkacheva also noted that there will be an epidemic of dementia worldwide, with 10 million new cases of dementia being detected every year. As the expert added, Alzheimer’s disease is the fifth most common cause of death in the world.
Earlier, the first deputy minister of labor and social protection of the Russian Federation, Olga Batalina, said that there are more elderly people with dementia, one of the key priorities is the early detection of cognitive disorders, RIA Novosti reports.
