The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Chechen Republic reminds that in winter, when the ice is not strong enough, the risk of accidents in water bodies increases.
The department told how to independently get out of the cold water of a person who fell under the ice, and how with the help of improvised means it is possible to save the victim.
“If someone has fallen under the ice, you have to try to cling to the edge of the ice to stay afloat. Then roll onto the ice and crawl (roll to shore).
If you see a person who has fallen under the ice, you need to find a strong stick or rope (tie clothes, belts, scarves together) and pull it to the victim. A person pulled out of the cold water should be moved to a heated room, dressed in dry clothes and given hot tea to drink.
Rescuers ask the inhabitants of the republic not to put their lives at risk in winter when approaching dangerous bodies of water.
