Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio warned of the dangers of a «food war» with unforeseen consequences if problems with Ukrainian grain supplies persist. He stated this in an interview with the newspaper La Stampa.
“All expert assessments indicate that the only way to overcome the shortage of grains is to create protected corridors for wheat transport by sea from Ukraine. The overland routes are too difficult <…>. There is a threat not just a food crisis, but a real food war with unforeseen consequences, ”he said.
