Sberbank announced a new fraudulent program in which scammers post information about «vacancies» on the Internet, and those who respond to them are «hired» and sent to them with an «employment contract», then asked for a bank card number and an SMS code ostensibly for the transfer fee, but in reality this is how money is stolen.
“The attackers post the most ordinary jobs on the Internet and wait for the candidates to respond. Dialogue with the «employer» looks credible. The candidate is accepted, they send him a contract and ask for a card number,» the message reads.
Experts say a new employee may even be given a «work assignment» to inspire confidence in the company.
“The main danger is this. The employer will ask you to enter the code from the SMS that the new employee will receive. Apparently it is necessary to transfer the fee. And if you enter the code, the scammers will be able to write off the money,” warned Sberbank.
The bank recommends checking whether the company that placed the vacancy exists and reminds that one-time passwords from text messages and the three digits on the back of the card should not be disclosed to anyone.
