Rospotrebnadzor said that due to Russia’s high level of immunity, there is no threat of a measles epidemic.
“The measles epidemic does not threaten Russia. In order to ensure the epidemiological well-being of this disease, a special measles eradication program is in place in the country, which provides for measures to combat this infection for 2021-2025. At the same time, the level of immunization of the population against measles in Russia remains at a high level, which contributes to maintaining a sufficient level of herd immunity.
Some regions are reporting imported cases of the disease among unvaccinated people, the press service said. In entities in a difficult epidemiological situation, work was organized on immunizing the unvaccinated population, as well as informing citizens about measles prevention and the benefits of vaccination. All necessary measures against the epidemic are being taken, the department explained.
