More than 17,000 refugees from the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics have crossed the border checkpoints in the Rostov Oblast last day, reports the Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the region.
«In the last 24 hours, more than 17,000 citizens have crossed the border to enter Russia through checkpoints in the Rostov region,» the report reads.
Large-scale evacuation of civilians began from the Donbass republics against the backdrop of an exacerbation of the situation in mid-February. Subsequently, Russia recognized the independence of the DPR and LPR, and on February 24 it launched a special military operation in Ukraine to demilitarize and denazify, reports RIA Novosti.
