Более 13 тысяч пострадавших от клещей обратились к медикам с начала года

The activity of ticks is increasing year by year, this year more than 13,000 people have signed up to medical organizations who have suffered from insect bites, two have been diagnosed with tick-borne encephalitis, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported.

“By the end of April in the Russian Federation, 13,385 victims of tick bites, including 4,916 children, had applied to medical organizations. Two people were diagnosed with tick-borne viral encephalitis. In the same period last year, 7,551 people turned to the organization’s doctors, which shows an increase in activity from year to year, ”the report reads.

They most often seek medical help after a tick bite in the Sverdlovsk, Kemer, Tyumen, Irkutsk and Novosibirsk regions, Altai and coastal territories, the press service said.

To avoid infection with tick-borne encephalitis, it is recommended to wear clothes that prevent ticks from crawling in and use repellants that treat open areas of the body and clothing, the department noted.

At the same time, vaccinations are the most effective means of protection against TBE. At the end of April, 1.4 million people were vaccinated in the regions of Russia, underlines Rospotrebnadzor, reports RIA Novosti.
