A start-up from the Russian People’s Friendship University has developed an antique door handle with an ultraviolet radiation source that disinfects its surface. This was reported by RIA Novosti in the press service of the National Technological Initiative (NTI).
«The team worked on a solution in the accelerator of the federal project «University Technology Platform of Entrepreneurship». The Anti-Covid handle has a unique design. It is based on an ultraviolet C source that disinfects the surface of the handle and, according to research, kills 96% of viruses and bacteria in 2.5-3 seconds. The source is placed in a tempered glass tube, and metal caps are located above and below where it is located. the motion sensor and the batteries, said NTI.
It should be noted that this invention may be suitable for government organizations such as hospitals, schools, and catering establishments. And the resource of the germicidal lamp is 10 thousand hours or about 400 days, while it can be easily replaced.
According to the project leader, the idea was born during the pandemic to reduce the number of diseases, and research has shown that the door handle is a carrier of many diseases.
“The estimated price of one handle will be 5,000 rubles, and in addition, the team is developing a solution for interior doors. There are plans to obtain the necessary certification in patent offices and certification authorities within the EEU… The project is implemented as part of the Decade of Science and Technology, which falls in Russia in the years 2022-2031,” summed up NTI.
