This year, more than 30,000 black and orange ribbons will be distributed in Chechnya.
Activists of «United Russia», the public organization «Victory Volunteers», as well as volunteers of the «Young Guard of United Russia» are distributing St. George — a symbol of the Great Victory.
The action, organized by the federal project «Historical Memory», will last until May 9 inclusive. This year, more than 30,000 black and orange ribbons will be distributed in Chechnya.
Locations are identified in each commune — these are the busiest streets and squares of cities and administrative centers. Symbolic locations are also identified near monuments and Eternal Lights.
Today, activists distributed two-color ribbons in all communes of the republic.
It should be noted that the St. Jerzy is organized annually by the Historical Memory Party project. The ribbon is a variation of the famous bicolor — a two-color ribbon for the Order of Saint George. During the Great Patriotic War, St. Jerzy entered the Soviet award system under the name «Ribbon of the Guard» and became a special distinction. The guard tape is covered with a block of one of the most respected orders — the Soldier’s Order of Glory.
The colors of the ribbon — black and orange — mean «smoke and flame» and symbolize the personal bravery of soldiers on the battlefield.
