It is planned to submit a draft law to the State Duma that will allow Russian citizens to prohibit themselves from obtaining loans and advances through the State Services portal. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Bank of Russia. The document is to be submitted at the spring session.
The regulator proposed introducing a self-barring mechanism for loans and credits last year. It will apply to all creditors, not just the bank where the person has an account.
The self-ban will be recorded in the credit history and will not allow fraudsters to grant a loan without the citizen’s knowledge. A similar measure has already been introduced in the real estate sector. A homeowner can prohibit dealings with him without his personal involvement, which helps protect him from fraudulent dealings with his property.
