As part of the implementation of the regional projects «Regional and local road network» and «System-wide activities for the development of road economy», in 2022 the Ministry of Roads implemented a whole range of activities to improve road safety.
For example, in 2022, as part of the regional project «Regional and local road network», the ring road was rebuilt. Germenczuk, which allowed to relieve the inner-village road from transit traffic, which led to a significant reduction in road accidents.
In total, as part of the national project in 2021, 72 road sections with a total length of 76.2 km and 5 bridges with a total length of 373.6 m were restored to normal condition, 222,140 m of road markings were made, 4,950 m of road barriers were installed to separate the oncoming stream vehicles, 94 artificial road thresholds, 13,545 m. pavements and 5,695 m of pedestrian routes, 7,228 m of outdoor lighting were installed. There are 152 pedestrian crossings and 4 stops.
As part of the implementation of the regional project «Systemic actions for the development of the road sector», the Ministry of Motor Roads together with the Department of the State Road Safety Inspection launched four stationary photo-video complexes for measuring the speed of vehicles.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Chechen Republic together with the Department of Traffic Police in the framework of the Republican target program «Improvement of road safety in the Chechen Republic for 2020-2024» installed six stationary photo-video complexes on the roads of the republic in places with an increased number of accidents.
As a result of the activities undertaken as part of the implementation of the nationwide project «Safe High-Quality Roads», the number of accidents in the region has significantly decreased. According to the data of the State Traffic Inspectorate, in 2022 the total number of registered road accidents in the republic decreased by 14% compared to 2021, and the total number of fatalities due to road accidents decreased by 39%.
Let us remind you that in 2023, as part of the nationwide Safe High-Quality Roads project, 84 objects will be brought to the normative state. 5 cameras recording photo and video of traffic violations will be installed on provincial roads.
