Activists of «United Russia», the social organization «Volunteers of Victory», as well as volunteers of the «Young Guard of United Russia» are distributing St. George, which are a symbol of the Great Victory.
The action, organized by the federal project «Historical Memory», will last until May 9 inclusive. It is planned that more than 30,000 black and orange ribbons will be distributed in Chechnya.
Locations are identified in each commune — these are the busiest streets and squares of cities and administrative centers. Symbolic locations are also identified near monuments and Eternal Lights.
Today the action took place in Grozny and Argun.
Let us recall that on April 19, United Russia submitted to the State Duma a project of equalizing the St. George with symbols of military glory. This will help stop cases of misuse and attacks on the generally accepted symbol of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. According to the law, the public desecration of the Ribbon of St. George will result in criminal or administrative liability, and any actions using the symbols of the St.
«Wearing a ribbon is a kind of symbol of respect for the exploits of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. We must not forget who and at what cost won the most terrible war of the last century, whose heirs we remain, what we should be proud of and who we should remember. I would like to draw the attention of the inhabitants of the region to the need for a careful approach to the ribbon. By putting it on, we pay tribute to the veterans, we honor the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, said Adlan Dinaev, head of the regional executive committee of the Chechen branch of United Russia.
It should be noted that the St. Jerzy is organized annually by the Historical Memory Party project. The ribbon is a variation of the famous bicolor — a two-color ribbon for the Order of Saint George. During the Great Patriotic War, St. Jerzy entered the Soviet award system under the name «Ribbon of the Guard» and became a special distinction. The guard tape is covered with a block of one of the most respected orders — the Soldier’s Order of Glory.
The colors of the ribbon — black and orange — mean «smoke and flame» and symbolize the personal bravery of soldiers on the battlefield.
The party project «United Russia» «Historical Memory» monitors the preservation and restoration of historical and cultural monuments. Today there are more than 90,000 monuments of federal, regional and local importance in Russia, and every second of them requires urgent renovation. The party project controls their restaurant, engaging in active cooperation of public figures, who immediately point out some shortcomings in the work. In addition, the party project leads a special direction, which is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War. As part of this direction, projects such as «Victory Dictation», «Dedicated to the Defenders of the Fatherland …», «Remembrance Guard», «Memorial Candle» and many others are implemented in the regions.
