The Russian Federation ranked 14th in the top twenty countries in terms of the development of digital technologies. This was reported in the presentation of Rostelecom’s research on global trends in digitization for 2021-2022, which was presented as part of the ANO Tsifrovaya economics press breakfast.
China tops the ranking, followed by the US, followed by India, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, France and Spain. Germany, Italy and Brazil overtake Russia in the top ten, followed by the Netherlands, Iran, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Thailand.
Russia is also among the top ten countries in terms of scientific and inventive activity in the field of robotics, quantum technologies and artificial intelligence.
In addition, during the presentation, Boris Glazkov, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Rostelecom, said that the company does not expect Russia to be downgraded in the future due to the development of its own solutions in the field of digital technologies.
In addition, Rostelecom announced the most important IT trends for 2022.
In terms of the integral indicator, artificial intelligence is at the forefront. Digitalization trends in 2022 also include alternative energy sources, with mobile networks rounding out the top three. Fourth and fifth places were taken by digital health and cancer research.
