The Federal Air Transport Agency has announced an extension of restrictions on flights to the south and to the central part of Russia.
«Temporary flight restrictions at 11 Russian airports have been extended until May 31, 2022, 3:45 Moscow time,» the release reads.
We are talking about the airports of Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista.
Airlines are advised to organize alternative routes through Sochi, Volgograd, Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol and Moscow. The rest of the country’s airports operate normally.
The flight restrictions to the southern and central regions have been in force since February 24, the date of the commencement of a special military operation aimed at the de-Nazification and demilitarization of Ukraine. Since then, this measure has been extended several times.
In late April, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to provide airports and airlines with subsidies to cover the costs of canceled flights, RIA Novosti reported.
