The Federal Air Transport Agency extended its temporary flight restrictions to airports in southern and central Russia until May 25, the agency’s press service said.
«The regime of temporary flight restrictions at 11 Russian airports in the southern and central part of Russia has been extended to May 25, 2022, 03:45 Moscow time,» the release reads.
The restrictions apply to airports:
Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol, Elista.
Flight restrictions to the southern and central regions have been in force since February 24, when Russia launched a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine.
As President Vladimir Putin emphasized, its goal is «to protect people who have been victims of abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.» According to the Ministry of National Defense, the Russian army only hits the military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops, nothing threatens the civilian population. The main goal of the operation in the department was called the liberation of Donbas, reports RIA Novosti.
