The price increase for airline tickets should be justified, airlines are advised to analyze the setting of fares on each route so that air travel costs remain affordable for citizens, according to the announcement on the website of the Federal Air Transport Agency regarding the deputy head of the department Vladimir Poteshkin.
A distraction reports that Poteshkin held a meeting on April 22 for uninterrupted flight operations during the May holidays. The meeting was attended by representatives of leading Russian airlines. The prices of air tickets, the implementation of tourist charter in Russia, air transport to airports in the south of the country and state support for airlines were discussed.
«Poteshkin drew the attention of airline representatives to the fact that the issue of air fares is of great social importance and that any increase must be justified. Airlines are advised to study the setting of fares on each route so that the cost of air travel remains affordable for citizens. The unjustified increase in ticket prices is unacceptable, ”reads the statement.
The meeting also took into account the features of flights to many airports in southern and central Russia in the current conditions. Due to the cancellation of flights, the airlines were instructed to continue cooperation with passengers, to arrange for a full refund of air tickets, or to provide the possibility of rebooking tickets for alternative routes.
Poteshkin called on all participants in the air transport market to coordinate joint efforts to ensure the uninterrupted operation of flights both during the May holidays and in general, in order to improve the safety and regularity of passenger services and to prevent violations of their rights.
