Мурашко заявил, что у части россиян есть иммунитет к оспе обезьян

Some Russians are immune to monkey pox thanks to vaccinations carried out before 1980. This was announced on Saturday, May 21, by the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, reports TASS.

As Muraszko explained, until 1980, smallpox vaccination was compulsory, so now the country has «a pool of immune populations.»

The minister also emphasized that currently no cases of infection with this infection have been found in the country. According to Murashko, Russian medical institutions have all the necessary tools for diagnosing this disease and drugs for its treatment.

Earlier in May, Russia’s vice-chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, said that cases of monkey pox in Europe were of serious concern.

Later, infectious disease doctor Lyudmila Kushnirenko said she assessed the likelihood of importing the new monkey pox virus into Russia. In her opinion, such a risk exists, in particular, due to the departures of the citizens of that country to Asia and Africa.
