The German Ministry of Health has confirmed four cases of monkey pox in the country, a department spokesman said at a briefing in Berlin.
«So far, there are four confirmed cases in Germany. New cases can be predicted taking into account the contacts of the patients and the possible spread of the disease … As far as we know, most patients tolerate the disease easily. According to the available information, transmission of the disease is only possible through close contact. Therefore, we are now realizing that the pace of spread will be moderate, «said a spokesman for the German Ministry of Health.
He added that the risk of monkey pox for the German population is currently assessed as moderate.
Cases of monkey pox infection have been identified in several countries, including the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, France, Australia, Canada, Germany and Spain.
Monkey pox is a rare viral infection that is also transmitted from person to person. It is usually a mild condition and most people recover within a few weeks, but some may experience complications. The initial symptoms of monkey pox include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and exhaustion. A rash may develop, often starting on the face and then spreading to other parts of the body. The rash changes and goes through different stages before a scab finally forms, which later comes off, reports RIA Novosti.
