Cars of foreign brands, as well as spare parts for them, are included in the list of goods allowed for parallel import to Russia, according to an order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, published on the official website, legal information.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has prepared a List of goods (groups of goods) that are not subject to the requirements for the protection of intellectual property rights by rightholders (patent holders) of products that were marketed outside the territory of the Russian Federation.
The list includes cars of foreign brands such as: Land Rover, Jeep, Jaguar, Chrysler, Bentley, General Motors, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Mitsubishi, Renault, Tesla, Linkoln, Hummer, Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler, Maybach , BMW, MINI, Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Porsche, Toyota, Lexus, Lamborghini, Ferrari, MAN, Scania, Isuzu, Maserati, Aston Martin, Subaru, Suzuki, Honda, Infiniti, Nissan, Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Mack Trucks , Volvo, Daf Trucks, Rolls-Royce and Bugatti.
Parallel import of auto parts for these foreign cars is also allowed.
According to the document, civil liability is excluded in cases where importers import products without official distribution channels.
Parallel import, however, does not mean an authorization to import and trade in counterfeit products — the products must be legally marketed in the country from which the import is made.
