The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia approved the Concept for the Development of Popular Science Tourism until 2035. The document was created as part of the action plan for the development of popular science tourism in Russia, approved by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The project will become the basis for planning and determining the main development mechanisms for this area, including for youth and children.
“The development of popular science tourism will be supported by the involvement of young people in the scientific community and from school years. Children of different ages will be able to visit unique laboratories, high-tech city-forming enterprises, meet like-minded people at mass youth scientific events — all this in different parts of our large country, ”said Valery Falkov, head of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.
The concept includes: staff training for popular science tourism; target group; the role of universities, research centers and regions in shaping routes; financial security.
One of the directions of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by the President of the Russian Federation has become a measure of the development of popular science tourism.
