The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia proposes to establish the total number of hours and format for teaching history at Russian universities, the ministry’s press service said.
Based on the results of the meetings of the interdepartmental commission for historical education and the council of experts on the development of historical education, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science has developed a draft regulation on the amendment of federal educational standards for higher education (FSES HE). The draft regulation is published on the official website for public discussion.
“Educational programs at the undergraduate and specialist level should provide for the discipline (module)» History of Russia «of at least four credit units (an average of 144 academic hours). History will be studied throughout the year. at the same time, the volume of contact work between students and teaching staff should constitute at least 80% of full-time education, at least 40% of the volume allocated to this discipline in full-time and part-time education. — says the message.
The ministry explained that in the current federal state educational standards, history is registered as a compulsory discipline, but there are no requirements for the volume and format of its study. At many universities, most of the time in history studies is devoted to the independent work of students.
The university independently determines the name, scope and content of the disciplines, added to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, reports RIA Novosti.
