The State Duma received a bill to simplify the acquisition of citizenship for foreign scientists, as well as to establish a preferential visa regime for such citizens. The relevant document is at the disposal of RIA Novosti.
“It is proposed to grant the right to foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in the territory of the Russian Federation, who are scientists (researchers) with the necessary qualifications and professionally engaged in scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities, who have concluded an employment contract (civil law contract) with a Russian organization scientific research or organization conducting activities for the implementation of higher education educational programs for a period of at least one year, apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner,” we read in the explanatory materials.
In addition, MEPs propose to introduce a preferential visa regime for issuing a multiple ordinary work visa to foreign scientists who have concluded an employment contract in the Russian Federation, as well as their family members for a period of less than three years. In this case, the visa approval period should not exceed five days.
