The lighting will also cover the TV towers in Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Penza, Belgorod, Tula, Yekaterinburg, Grozny, Nazran, Rostov-on-Don, Saratov, and Tver.
“Radio communication is at the heart of all modern information technology. That is why Radio Day celebrates the progress of widely understood electronics. Today, this day has become a holiday for all branches of communication, ”says Lyovina Julia Alexandrovna, director of the RTRS Yaroslavl ORTPC.
On the eve of Radio Day, RTRS began broadcasting Radio Russia from a communication facility in the village of Puzbol in the Rostov oblast in the Yaroslavl oblast. The 100 W transmitter provided a radio signal to over 59 thousand. people in the city of Rostov Veliky and its surroundings. A joint, large-scale program for the expansion of the VGTRK and RTRS radio broadcasting network is foreseen to be launched.
The history of radio began in 1895 with the first demonstration of a lightning discharge detector, «an instrument designed to indicate rapid fluctuations in atmospheric electricity.» Alexander Popov demonstrated the operation of the device at a meeting of the Russian Physico-Chemical Society.
The Popov traditions were continued by other eminent domestic scientists. Boris Rosing and Vladimir Zworykin invented electronic television, and Mark Krivosheev headed the international television standardization and became one of the initiators of the transition of Russian television to digital technologies.
